Prejudice and Inequality

By Chris Martin

Prejudice and Inequality

He said it was them and no one else, they had caused it all

Destroying all our futures

While they were having a ball

Don’t pretend any longer that you don’t agree

For it is happening every day now and soon it will be you and me

Those words said from a platform, by that proud and angry man

Were meant to give us a warning

That we must fight back and do all that we can

Words that came from a prophet, one who was in the know

A modern day oracle, example’s he would show

He’d seen it coming years before

If only they had listened then

As it’s not a case of maybe now but a case of when

To those who stood beside me

These words were meant for them

For I was I so much wiser

Or just a fool who could pretend

We all applauded loudly, to each descriptive phrase

I too looked in agreement, though my mind was in a daze

Was it the man on the platform?

Whose words I disbelieved

Or was I making judgements?

On this crowd that cheered and heaved.

I stood with mixed emotions, among this angry throng

Should I stand and tell them?

That they are completely wrong

But still more words of prejudice

From this proud and angry man

But who was I to change things

I mean I do all I can?

There will always be a platform for a proud and angry man

To spout the words of prejudice

And bring inequality first to hand

He will tell you that they are taking over

For it’s happening every day

For that man speaks on platforms globally

Beware what he has to say.
